Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has instructed to draft a bill, providing measures for the legal regulation of electronic money and cryptocurrency.
Under the presidential decree, the document should be developed until Sept.1, 2018. The Central Bank, the Ministry for the Development of Information Technology and Communications, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Economy, as well as several other ministries and departments are responsible for drafting the document.
The document also stipulates to distribute registry technologies (blockchain) at the Mirzo Innovation Center Innovation Center. The Center will be engaged in the formation of conditions for using the blockchain, increasing the human resources and supporting domestic developers in mastering this technology. The Center is expected to be launched as early as June 1, 2018.
Furthermore, the president tasked to actively develop and promote the widespread use of contactless payment technologies, including the use of international payment systems such as PayPal, Alipay, Visa and Mastercard. A set of measures in this direction will be developed by June 1, 2018.
Previously, Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov spoke in favor of the using the "blockchain" technology by the Central Asian countries.
