Baku, Azerbaijan, Feb. 22
By Rufiz Hafizoglu – Trend:
Turkey will open a new checkpoint in Sirnak province bordering Iraq, Turkey’s Customs and Trade Ministry told Trend on Feb. 22.
The new checkpoint will be opened in Uludere district, the ministry said.
Work on creation of the new checkpoint’s infrastructure is currently ongoing, the ministry noted.
The ministry didn’t announce the precise date when the checkpoint on Turkish-Iraqi border will be opened.
Currently there are 27 checkpoints in Turkey, four of them bordering with Iraq.
Seven of the checkpoints aren’t used, with one of the non-operating checkpoints bordering with Armenia.
