By Ali Mustafayev – Trend:
Three new water reservoirs will be built in Kazakhstan's Zhambyl region, Khabar TV channel reported.
Presently, the regional bodies prepare a feasibility study of the project worth 6 billion tenge. The construction of reservoirs will start in 2019, with further commissioning in 2021.
The authorities of the region expect that the construction of new reservoirs will solve the problem of irrigation water deficit.
In addition, the region plans to restore more than 280 wells, build more than 700 kilometers of collector-drainage networks, and reconstruct three more reservoirs.
The problem of water shortage remains relevant in the southern regions of Kazakhstan, which impedes the development of agriculture, as well as the stable water supplies to the population.
