Uzbek and Tajik banks ink agreement on financing exports

Uzbek “Uzpromstroybank” and Tajik “Orionbank” signed a $20-million agreement during the official visit of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Tajikistan on March 9, 2018, the press office of the Uzbek bank announced.

The Uzbek bank signed the “Interbank agreements on establishment of correspondent relations” in the US dollars and Euros with Tajik “Amonatbonk”, “Orionbank” and “Eskhatabank” in order to strengthen the cooperation and further develop and improve the interbank accounting system.

According to the information, an agreement on cooperation in trade financing, which provides for funding of deals concerning goods and services export from Uzbekistan to Tajikistan, has also been signed.

A credit line will be opened to implement the trade financing projects, aimed at increasing the export of goods and services from Uzbekistan in various spheres, such as textile, construction materials production, food, household chemicals, agricultural production, electric appliances, automobile and chemical production etc.

The Tajik entrepreneurs will be able to use the credit line from “Orionbank” to sign import agreements with Uzbek exporters.

The “Uzpromstroybank” is currently an only bank in Uzbekistan to sign such agreements with the three leading banks of Tajikistan.
