Construction of a new road tunnel began in the Izmir province in the west of Turkey, the provincial municipality said in a message March 12.
Total cost of the tunnel’s construction is 183 million Turkish liras.
This will be a two-lane tunnel with a length of 2.5 kilometers, says the message.
As part of the project, it is also planned to build two suspension bridges with a length of 280 and 920 meters.
Currently, there are three road tunnels in the province.
In total, there are 40 road and three railway tunnels in Turkey.
