Baku, Azerbaijan, March 15
By Azad Hasanli – Trend:
Azerbaijan, Turkey, Iran and Georgia will sign today [March 15] a roadmap for cooperation in a wide range of spheres, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu told reporters on the sidelines of the 6th Global Baku Forum in Baku on March 15.
"We worked on a joint road map and today we plan to sign it. This covers various areas, including sub-projects related to transport, communications, energy, regional issues, economy, trade and customs," he said.
The minister noted that today the foreign ministers of the four countries meet for the first time in this format. "We used to hold tripartite meetings with Iran, Turkmenistan and Georgia, but today we are holding a four-sided meeting, which is an indicator of the role that Azerbaijan and Turkey play in the region," Cavusoglu said.
The sides have many topics to discuss, including Iran's joining the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway, and energy projects.
The minister also spoke about multiculturalism and mutual understanding among peoples. "We need to learn how to live together, just like in Azerbaijan, Turkey. People must respect each other, regardless of which cultures or religions they represent," he said.
