Uzbekistan to increase cargo flow to Kazakhstan, Russia via new railway

Uzbekistan launched passenger trains on a new Bukhara - Misken railway line, reducing distance from Tashkent to Urgench, Khiva, Nukus and in the opposite direction by two hours.

Uzbekistan will also set new trains in Tashkent - Saratov, Tashkent - Volgograd, Almaty - Nukus, Andijan - Urgench, Nukus - Urgench – Termez directions.

The new route will be connected to the Navoi-Uchkuduk-Sultanuizdag-Nukus railway line, which will allow to intensify the cargo transportation from Uzbekistan to Kazakhstan and Russia.

The construction of the railway line from Bukhara to Misken with a length of 355 kilometers started in December 2016.

Uzbekistan also intends to set Afrosiyob high-speed trains along the new railway, which will create favorable conditions for the tourists, as well as for the optimization of the existing tours that unite Tashkent, Samarkand, Bukhara and Khiva into a single transport direction.
