Turkey records fall in sale of real estate

In February 2018, the volume of real estate sales in Turkey decreased by 5.4 percent compared to the same period in 2017 to 95,953 units of real estate, the Institute of Statistics of Turkey (TUİK) said in a message.

During this period, 16,247 units of real estate were sold in Istanbul, 9,686 units of real estate - in Ankara, and 5.965 units of real estate - in Izmir.

"The remaining 64,055 units of real estate fall to the share of other Turkish cities," TUİK repotted.

During the reported period, in Turkey1,729 units of real estate were sold to foreigners, which is 32.44 percent more compared to the same month in 2017.

"In February 2018, foreigners purchased 604 units of real estate in Istanbul, and 415 units in Antalya, while the remaining 710 units acquired by foreigners fall to the share of other Turkish cities," the report reads.

In February 2018, Iraqi citizens purchased 308 units of real estate in Turkey, Saudi Arabia's citizens - 178 units and citizens of Russia - 128 units.

"The remaining 1,115 units of real estate fall to the share of citizens of other countries, according to the report.

During the two months of 2018, 192,953 units of real estate were sold in Turkey.
