Turkmenistan completes harvesting sugar beet

The harvesting of sugar beets is under completion in the Balkan and Mary provinces of Turkmenistan, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported on March 24.

Sugar beets were sown in an area of 17,900 hectares, which yearly gives harvest of 220,000 tons or even more.

The harvesting campaign was launched in October. Then, there was also launched processing of raw materials at Marysheker enterprise, which produces 11,000 tons of granulated sugar annually.

The customer - the State Food Industry Association of Turkmenistan - provides the agricultural producers with seeds and transport for transportation of the harvest to the reception points.

Two varieties of sugar beets "Romanovskaya-47" and "Portland", which have proved themselves in the arid climate and are resistant to pests, are sown in Turkmenistan.
