Farmers in Turkmenistan’s northern Dashoguz province have started sowing cotton, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported.
Due to the climatic conditions in the Dashoguz province, the cotton sowing season there starts a little later than in other provinces of Turkmenistan.
In the Dashoguz province, 140,000 hectares of land are allocated for cotton, and it is planned to harvest 230,000 tons of cotton this year in the province.
A total of 545,000 hectares of land are allocated for cotton in Turkmenistan. It is planned to harvest a total of 1.050 million tons of cotton, including 207,000 tons in the Akhal province, 300,000 tons in the Lebap province, and 313,000 tons in the Mary province.
More than 7,000 tractors of different brands, more than 2,100 seeders, more than 5,000 cotton cultivators and other agricultural machinery are involved in the sowing campaign.
