By Huseyn Hasanov– Trend:

Facilities of the Turkmen State Committee for Fisheries have caught 555 tons of fish in the country since early 2018, which exceeds the volumes of fish caught in the same period last year, the Turkmen Altyn Asyr TV channel reported March 30.

At a government meeting in Turkmenistan, measures were announced to support entrepreneurship in the field of growing fish in artificial conditions, in particular, regarding issuance of 21 licenses to several facilities.

At the meeting, information was also provided about the announcement of an international tender for construction of a complex for the artificial breeding of sturgeon and manufacture of fish products in the Guvlymayak village of Turkmenistan’s Balkan province, as well as the fish canning workshop at the Balkanbalyk state facility at the expense of foreign investors.

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov drew attention to the fact that significant investments are being attracted to the development of the fishing industry.

Balkanbalyk is Turkmenistan’s leading facility that produces fish in the Caspian Sea and is engaged in the processing of fishery products.

The Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan is studying the global experience of artificial fish breeding in inland ponds and the waters of the Caspian Sea.

Turkmenistan is implementing the Fisheries Development Program until 2030.
