Surplus in Azerbaijan’s secondary income operations ups

Individuals transferred $1.02 billion to Azerbaijan from foreign countries in 2017, which is 1.8 times more than in 2016, reads the balance of payments posted on the website of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA) on March 31.

In 2016, individuals transferred $620.52 million to Azerbaijan from foreign countries.

The money transferred by individuals to Azerbaijan in 2017 accounted for 92 percent of the total income from secondary operations.

During the period, secondary income transactions worth $1.5 billion were carried out by Azerbaijan with foreign countries, which is 27.1 percent more than in 2016.

Some $1.1 billion of them accounted for Azerbaijan’s proceeds.

The cost of humanitarian goods imported into Azerbaijan for this period amounted to five percent of the country's revenues, and the other income was three percent.

A surplus was formed in Azerbaijan’s secondary income operations, which amounted to $708.6 million, which exceeds the figure for 2016 by 12.5 times.
