By Fikret Dolukhanov – Trend:

Uzbekistan will increase the excise tax on cigarettes by 50 percent and taxes on alcohol by 20 percent, the Ministry of Finance of Uzbekistan stated in the budget message on April 27.

According to the information, among the sources of strengthening revenues of local budgets is also the introduction of land tax for the owners of areas of more than one hectare, an increase in the tax on alcohol production from 10 percent to 27 percent, on cigarettes – by 50 percent, on beer – by 20 percent.

The tax rate on land areas is to be reduced from 1.7 percent to 0.2 percent taking into account the growth of the taxable base. Lowering coefficients can be applied as well based on the social state of the region.

For example, the property tax on the house located in the Khorezm region will be twice lower than in Tashkent.
