South Korean investors to launch medical projects in Kazakhstan

South Korean investors are interested in the mechanism of public-private partnership (PPP) of Kazakhstan, Aidos Kobetov, vice-president of the Kazakhstan PPP Center said at a press conference in the Central Communications Service of Kazakhstan, Kazakh media outlets reported.

He added that investors from South Korea are ready to take part in the construction of five medical facilities in Kazakhstan.

"The cooperation plan with our Korean partners includes five projects in the medical field. The Korean investors are ready to build two hospitals in Almaty, two hospitals in Karaganda, as well as to create to Check-up centers in Kyzylorda. The implementation period of the projects will be known after the conclusion of the PPP contract, when the final list of investors is determined," Kobetov said.

He also stressed that the introduction of the PPP mechanism in Kazakhstan allowed to reduce the burden on the budget in the amount of about 90.6 billion tenge, increasing the attendance of medical institutions by more than 35,400 times, improving the conditions for patients.

Presently, Kazakhstan PPP Center also prepares 779 projects with foreign investors worth 1.7 trillion tenge.
