Registration of a biometric passport of a Turkmen citizen for leaving Turkmenistan and entering Turkmenistan started July 10, 2008.

In order to ensure freedom of movement, every citizen of Turkmenistan is issued a biometric passport for leaving Turkmenistan and entering Turkmenistan for a period of five years.

The Constitution of Turkmenistan and the Migration Act grant the right to freedom of movement and choice of residence to every citizen of Turkmenistan, irrespective of age, race, sex, language, religion, place of residence, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, official or other status.

“No citizen of Turkmenistan can be deprived of the right to leave Turkmenistan and enter Turkmenistan,” the message said.
