Brest Distillery Company Belalco, one of the largest producers of alcoholic beverages in Belarus, intends to significantly increase exports to Azerbaijan, the head of the sales, marketing and foreign economic activity management department at Belalco, Igor Kravchuk, told Trend on May 17.

He said the growing demand in the Azerbaijani market contributes to this.

"The supplies to Azerbaijan are gaining momentum even despite the excise tax increase. We also plan to expand the range of exported products. Presently, we are developing recipes for new types of vodka specifically for the Azerbaijani market upon the request of our dealer. I think we will increase the volumes in 2018," he said, adding the exports to Azerbaijan more than doubled from 2016 to 2017.

In January-March 2018, Azerbaijan imported alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as wine vinegar for $13.67 million.

The imports increased by almost 33 percent compared to the same period in 2017.
