Turkey to increase number of cruise ports - ministry

In the framework of the Turkish government's plan - Goal -2023 it is planned to increase the number of cruise ports in Turkey, a source in the Ministry of Transport, Maritime and Communications of Turkey told Trend May 21.

The ministry stated that, over the past 15 years 1.3 billion Turkish liras were spent on the construction of cruise ports.

"Currently, there are 61 cruise ports in Turkey that can receive more than 24,000 cruise ships," the ministry stated.

The ministry said that until 2023 the ports of Turkey will be able to receive annually 30,000 cruise ships.

Until 2023, it is also planned to build 11 ports in Turkey for sea cruises.

For the development of maritime tourism in Turkey, it is planned to reconstruct a number of important ports in the coastal provinces.

It is expected that first of all, some ports in Istanbul, Antalya, as well as in Izmir will be reconstructed.

The official exchange rate as of May 21 is 4.4732 TL/USD.
