The chemical industry of Turkmenistan has a strategic role in the transition of the national economy to the non-resource development path, the "Neutral Turkmenistan" newspaper writes June 1.

Turkmenabat chemical plant is one of the key enterprises in this industry, capable of producing 225,000 tons of phosphate fertilizers and 500,000 tons of sulfuric acid per year.

"The prospects and profitability of the production of these products is due to the fact that sulfuric acid is an important component in the production of mineral nutrition for plants."

The article says the company has established an annual production of 1,100 tons of oxyhumate, which contributes to the growth of crops, protection of plants from pests and increase of productivity.

The main raw material is lignite coal from the coal deposits of Tuvergyr on Amanbulak field located on the territory of Turkmenbashi etrap (district) of Balkan velayat (region). The plant also plans to establish the production of chemical coagulant, which is used at one of the most important stages of drinking water treatment.
