Uzbekistan to open new airport in Tashkent region

A new airport for business aviation is being built in the Kibray district of the Tashkent region of Uzbekistan, the press service of the head of state reported on June 1.

Reportedly, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev visited the airfield in the Kibray district, where a new airport is being built, on June 1 and gave instructions concerning projects of future facilities.

Design and general construction work is currently underway. In particular, the old runway is being dismantled.

The project is going to be implemented in 2018-2020 in two phases. At the first stage, a 4-kilometer runway and a terminal with a capacity of 250 passengers per hour are planned to be build. At the second stage, additional infrastructure facilities and a hotel complex will be created. All conditions for reception and maintenance of large cargo planes will be created at the airport.
