Azerbaijan accounted for around 23.5 percent of inbound containers handled by APM Terminals through Georgia’s Poti port in the first quarter of 2018, APM Terminals told Trend.

APM Terminals, headquartered in the Netherlands, handled 82,039 TEU containers through Poti port during the first quarter of 2018, which is 15.1 percent more compared to the same period of 2017, said the company.

“In 2018, 23.5 percent of inbound containers were for Azerbaijan. However, more cargo may be consolidated in off-docks for Azerbaijan,” the company said.

“Since assuming operations, APM Terminals has invested over $70 million upgrading the outdated port infrastructure and service facilities, including the construction of a new Customs Center, as well as new rail and truck facilities,” said the company.
