Uzbekistan is currently not planning to implement the so-called tax amnesty, but is thoroughly studying this topic, Uzbek media reported citing Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Finance Minister Jamshid Kuchkarov.

“There are several projects that we are working on at the level of ministries and departments. There are many legal issues related to money laundering and so on. We are still working in these areas. We have just started this work, and if we see that this corresponds to our interests, we will implement it [the tax amnesty],” Kuchkarov said.

The tax amnesty is a series of measures aimed at providing taxpayers with the right to pay taxes for which the statutory deadlines have expired.

The tax amnesty is characterized by one-stage nature, i.e. the state grants the right to legalize incomes only once and for a certain period of time.

The purpose of the tax amnesty is not to replenish the budget, but to move to a legal framework in relations with taxpayers. The main point in this regard is legalization of property for which the tax was paid with the state not prosecuting violators.
