Turkmenistan handing over Avaza national tourist zone to private sector

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov made a decision to hand over Avaza national tourist zone complex located at the shore of the Caspian Sea to entrepreneurs, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported.

In this regard, Chairman of the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan Alexander Dadaev has been instructed to create a council for managing the health and entertainment complex in Avaza and to resolve the issue of transferring every hotel and facility to one or several entrepreneurs.

All the necessary documents will be registered through the Ministry of Finance and Economy of Turkmenistan.

The tourism sector has a special place in Turkmenistan’s strategic plans. Avaza resort, which is the first free economic zone in the country, being built near the Caspian Sea, can be cited as an example. Investors, firms and companies working there are provided with tax and customs privileges.

The Great Silk Road passed through Turkmenistan. The country has a rich culture, diverse natural landscapes, unique archaeological monuments, including those that were included in the list of “World Cultural Heritage” by UNESCO.
