China almost catches up Russia as Uzbekistan's main foreign trade partner

Russia, China and Kazakhstan became the main foreign trade partners of Uzbekistan in the 1H2018, the Foreign Trade Ministry of Uzbekistan stated.

The trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Russia amounted to $2.83 billion, which makes up 16 percent of the total trade turnover of Uzbekistan ($17.7 billion).

China took the second place with only a small difference: the trade turnover between the countries amounted to $2.81 billion, which is 15.9 percent of the total trade turnover of Uzbekistan.

The share of Kazakhstan in the total trade turnover of Uzbekistan was 8.1 percent. The total volume of trade between the two countries amounted to $1.43 billion.

The top-5 foreign trade partners of Uzbekistan also included Turkey ($940 million – 5.3 percent) and South Korea ($762.4 million – 4.3 percent).

It was earlier reported that Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover in the 1H2018 amounted to $17.7 billion, including exports – $7.8 billion, imports – $9.9 billion. The balance of foreign trade amounted to negative $2.1 billion.
