Uzbek automaker GM Uzbekistan has decided to suspend sale of cars in Uzbekistan because of uncertainty about the expected increase in prices, the Uzbek company stated.
Car dealer centers across the country stopped signing contracts for purchase of GM Uzbekistan cars. The prices in the car market have also risen.
“Prices for GM Uzbekistan cars have not changed. The price increase, which was discussed on July 30 at the International Press Club, is being comprehensively studied together with relevant organizations and specialists, taking into account positive and negative consequences. The price increase is expected; however, due to the specific cost not being determined yet, conclusion of contracts has been suspended,” the company said.
Representative of GM Uzbekistan reminded that the price list spread in social networks is not true, since new prices have not been established yet.
On July 30, during the meeting of the International Press Club, chairman of Uzavtosanoat JSC Shavkat Umurzakov announced that car prices will be increased in average by 14 percent from Aug. 1, 2018. Nevertheless, the company later stated that the prices won’t be increased since Aug. 1.
