Until the end of 2018, Azerbaijan plans to send export missions to the countries of Central Europe, the trade representative of Azerbaijan in Poland Nemat Nagdaliyev told Trend.

The issue is being actively discussed at bilateral level.

According to the representative, the first consideration is sending export missions to Poland and Germany.

"Presently, needs of the European market are being considered. We are studying the possibilities of our market and the desire of our exporters to participate in these missions. We have already had export missions to Hungary and Switzerland and we are planning to increase the export of our products to the markets of these countries," Nagdaliyev said.

"Azerbaijani companies show interest in participating in European exhibitions. Particularly, their participation in the forthcoming exhibition in France is planned," Nagdaliyev noted.

"An international exhibition in Paris is expected in late October, which will be attended by representatives of about ten Azerbaijani companies. Various kinds of Azerbaijani wines, cognacs and other beverages will be exhibited and almost all top brands of Azerbaijani alcohol products will be demonstrated," the trade representative said.

He noted that along with alcohol, industrial products, including chemical goods and textiles, are also supplied to Poland in small quantities.

"In trade with Poland, we have a large negative balance in favor of Polish imports. So we need to focus more on promoting our products not only in Poland, but also in the markets of the leading countries of Central Europe. The real statistics to date show that the volumes import in many respects exceed export. Azerbaijan mainly imports dairy products, meat, pharmaceuticals and ready-made textiles," Nagdaliyev said.

Poland became the fourth largest trading partner of Azerbaijan in 2017.

To date, Russia, Italy, Turkey, Israel, Germany and China are the largest trading partners of Azerbaijan.

Poland is the sixth largest market in the European Union with a fast-growing economy. In 2017, the country's GDP grew by 4.6 percent and the forecast for 2018 was 3.8 percent.
