Iran sees rise in minibus, midibus manufacture

Manufacture of minibuses and midibuses increased in Iran by 103.7 percent in the Iranian month of Tir (June 22-July 20) compared to the last year’s corresponding period.

Iranian automakers, namely Pishro Diesel Asia, Soroush Diesel Mabna, Iran Khodro Diesel and Oghab Afshan produced a total of 165 minibuses and midibuses in Tir, ISNA reported on Aug. 17.

This comes as production of the minibuses and midibuses by Bahman Group and Oghab Afshan saw a decline compared with the same month of last year to stand at 21 and 4, respectively.

Last year, Bahman Group and Oghab Afshan manufactured 36 and 10 units.

Iran manufactured 1.44 million passenger cars in the year which ended on March 20, 2018, showing an increase of 14.8 percent year-on-year.

Iranian carmakers produced 72,502 pick-ups in the 12-month period indicating a 6.7-percent decline year-on-year.

Iran’s annual bus output stood at 1,782, registering an increase of 53.9 percent compared to the 12-month period of preceding year (1,158 vehicles).
