Belarus, Uzbekistan to jointly manufacture shoes

In 2019, Belarus and Uzbekistan aim to establish a joint shoe enterprise in the Central Asian country, General Director of Marco, the Belarusian leather and footwear company, Nikolay Martynov said in the Nedelya [Week] program on the Belarusian television channel STV.

According to BelTA, the agreement for construction of a new shoe factory has been signed on the margins of the official visit of the president of Belarus to Uzbekistan.

The technology of footwear production at the future enterprise will be Belarusian.

Uzbekistan and Belarus intend to implement several large projects in the next few years. The Belarusian company Belkommunmash will supply the first electric bus of its own production to Tashkent as a pilot project.

The countries plan to bring the trade turnover up to $1 billion. The volume of trade turnover between the countries increased by 60 percent by the end of 2017. In January-July 2018 the trade turnover increased almost fourfold and reached $208 million, $189 million of which are Belarusian exports to Uzbekistan.
