Since the beginning of 2018, over 230 joint Uzbek-Turkish enterprises have been created in Uzbekistan, and mutual trade has grown by over 40 percent, the press service of the president of Uzbekistan stated referring to the results of negotiations between Head of State Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Chairman of the Turkish Parliament Binali Yildirim, who is on an official visit in the country.

Yildirim highly appreciated the reforms carried out in Uzbekistan and stressed that the Turkish side is ready to render all possible assistance in implementing projects aimed at modernizing the country's economy and social sphere.

The sides touched upon the role of inter-parliamentary relations in development and strengthening of bilateral relations. Parliamentary groups of friendship operate in the parliaments of Uzbekistan and Turkey.

On the same day, Yildirim met with Senate Chairman Nigmatilla Yuldoshev and Speaker of the Legislative Chamber Nurdinjon Ismoilov.

The first joint meeting of the Turkey-Uzbekistan inter-parliamentary friendship group of the Turkish parliament and the inter-parliamentary group of the Uzbek parliament on cooperation with the Turkish parliament was held.

Reportedly, Yildirim will also visit Samarkand and Bukhara.

In the 1H2018, Turkey entered the top five foreign trade partners of Uzbekistan. The trade turnover between the two countries amounted to $940 million.

Over the seven months of 2018, Turkey came out on top in terms of the number of new foreign enterprises in Uzbekistan. Some 147 enterprises were established with participation of the residents of Turkey.
