Uzbekistan to considerably increase alcohol export (Exclusive)

In 2018, the volume of trade in the alcoholic beverages market of Uzbekistan will exceed the preliminary forecasts by 0.6 percent and will amount to 3,185 trillion soums, which is 12.7 percent higher than a year before (2,826 billion soums), a representative of the Uzsharobsanoat told Trend on Sept. 26.

According to the information, Uzbekistan will produce alcohol for 2,929 trillion soums (a 3.61-percent increase) in 2018, 1,693 trillion soums of which account for industrial products, and 1,236 trillion soums – for consumer goods in selling prices.

At the same time, the volume of Uzbek exports will total $25 million, which is 19.5 percent more compared to 2017 ($21 million). The net profit of the alcohol industry will amount to 80 billion soums (a 12.3-percent increase).

The company noted that enterprises producing alcoholic products fully provide domestic needs of the country.

“The main objectives of the company are to actively expand the geography and range of export products, with an increasing share of exports of finished products with higher added value, as well as the development and export of new products, including fresh fruit and vegetables," the company said.

Back in February 2018, the presidential decree "On measures on radical improvement of wine industry and sale of alcoholic beverages" renamed Uzsharobsanoat holding and its Fund for Reconstruction and Development into Uzsharobsanoat.

The decree also eliminated Vinagroimpex LLC and brought out non-core businesses from the structure of Uzsharobsanoat.

According to the decree, from April 1, 2018, the requirement to establish the shelf life of wine products has been excluded, and producers of such products are given the right to independently determine the shelf life.

Also, from July 1, 2018, producers of alcoholic beverages have been granted the right to sell their own wine products at retail in the factory degustation areas organized along tourist routes.
