By Anvar Mammadov - Trend:
The State Labor Protection Fund will be established in Azerbaijan, Minister of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Azerbaijan Sahil Babayev said Sept. 28.
He was speaking at the ceremony of signing a memorandum of cooperation between the Ministry, the Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FIMSA), the Compulsory Insurance Bureau and insurance companies.
He noted that the State Fund will be established under the Ministry in order to carry out preventive measures in labor protection and to provide assistance in preparation of norms, standards and rules of labor protection.
“Our goal is to increase the penetration of compulsory insurance against occupational accidents,” Babayev said. “Unfortunately, despite that this type of insurance is compulsory, the level of its penetration is incomplete. Through the system of registration of employment contracts, we want to ensure that all employees are fully insured against accidents. At the same time, together with insurance companies, we are going to take measures to reduce the number of accidents at work.”
The State Fund will provide support for labor protection measures implemented in accordance with a unified state policy, ensure coordination of activity, support the implementation of preventive measures, preparation of norms, standards and rules for labor protection, train specialists, organize education on labor protection, promote compulsory insurance against occupational diseases and accidents at work.
