In Azerbaijan, most often forged banknotes are five manat bills, the data published on the electronic services portal of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan reads.

These bills account for 32 percent of all counterfeit banknotes in Azerbaijan. One manat and 20 manat bills follow with 29 and 15 percent, respectively.

Then follow the banknotes in denominations of 100 manat (10 percent), 10 manat (seven percent) and 50 manat (six percent).

No cases of counterfeiting newly issued 200 manat bills have been recorded yet.

The Central Bank of Azerbaijan has recently presented the centralized portal for electronic services. One of the portal's tasks is to monitor counterfeit banknotes and automate processes for the examination of banknotes. Citizens are able to test a banknote's authenticity by checking its serial number in the system.
