Several million manats have been allocated for irrigation work and introduction of a pivot sprinkling system on the sown areas of the Yalama agricultural park intended for the production of fodder, Director of the agricultural park Zaur Aliyev told Trend.
The director said the state has allocated 1 million manats for irrigation work, and the total amount of the funds invested in the Yalama agricultural park is about $2 million.
“We are facing serious restoration work, since the entire irrigation system in the areas belonging to the Yalama agricultural park has been completely destroyed. At the moment we are working to introduce a drainage system in these territories. At the end of October, the construction of two large reservoirs will begin for implementation of irrigation work in the future," he said.
"With the state support, we plan to fully restore the irrigation system in the sown areas, and then introduce a pivot sprinkler system in Yalama agricultural park. This system consists of special units designed for irrigation of sown areas by water spraying method," the director of the agricultural park said.
The establishment of agricultural parks was launched in the country in accordance with the instructions of President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to accelerate the development of the non-oil sector, to apply intensive technologies in the manufacturing sector.
Establishment of agricultural parks plays an important role in expanding exports of non-oil products to foreign markets, in creating national brands, forming a coordinated unified system in the field of agriculture, as well as in forging the producer-processor-consumer relations, in training the qualified personnel in the agricultural sector and in opening of new jobs.
