The European Union, in partnership with the Turkmen Ministry of Agriculture and the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan (UIET), is implementing the project entitled "Contributing to the further sustainable development of agriculture and rural areas in Turkmenistan," the UIET said in a statement.

As part of this project, in Dublin (Ireland), a workshop was recently held for representatives of the UIET and the National Organization of Turkmenistan on Bar Codes. The event was aimed at acquainting with the experience of Ireland as one of the most successful European exporters, supplying more than two thirds of the total volume of its national agro-food production to different countries.

The workshop participants were given the opportunity to study the relevant requirements on quality and food safety standards in European countries and on requirements related to entering the agro-food markets of the European Union.

The delegation of Turkmenistan, which also included experts from the Ministries of Agriculture, Health, Finance and Economy, visited a number of public and private organizations, Ireland’s organizations and companies specializing in food and agriculture, carrying out the monitoring and control of compliance of the manufactured products with food safety standards and requirements.
