Baku, Azerbaijan, Oct. 18
Trend:
Uzbekistan Railways announced an increase in the fare on the high-speed train Afrosiyob since Nov. 1, Uzbek media reported.
According to the information, prices will be increased by an average 35 percent.
"This is a necessary measure to cover all the costs of electricity, raw materials, spare parts and payment of competitive salaries for staff," the Uzbek company said in a statement.
Uzbekistan Railways also noted that the upcoming price adjustment will keep the number of existing routes and bring the profitability of passenger traffic to the break-even point on socially significant destinations.
The Afrosiyob train runs on Tashkent-Samarkand, Tashkent-Shakhrisabz and Tashkent-Bukhara routes.
The prices for travel on Afrosiyob trains have already been increased by 35 percent from Aug. 15.
