Eggs produced in Kazakhstan may be exported to China, said President of Kazakhstan Egg Producers Association Maksim Bozhko, according to Kazakh media.

"Kazakhstan has a very small production of duck meat, and in China it is one of the most popular products. I know that the Kazakh Agriculture Ministry wants to allow the import of duck meat from China and in return asks to allow the import of egg products from Kazakhstan to China," he said.

Bozhko also said that Kazakh poultry farms are quite competitive and are not inferior to Russian and Belarusian producers, in quality or price.

"Kazakh producers fully cover the country's need for chicken eggs and export part of it to the near abroad," he noted, adding that in 2017 Kazakhstan produced 5,086 billion eggs and 179,624 tons of chicken meat.

Bozhko also called for the development of local breeding reproducers for the reproduction of poultry population, as it will cost much cheaper.

"Every year our egg poultry farms import about 10 million day-old chickens from Russia for more than 2 billion tenge. To produce these 10 million chickens in Kazakhstan, it is necessary to bring only 200,000 breeding-stock hens for 300 million tenge," Bozhko said.
