Russian Development Bank to finance supply of hi-tech equipment to Uzbekistan

Russia's Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs (Vnesheconombank) and the National Bank of Uzbekistan (NBU) have signed a memorandum of cooperation for $200 million, Uzbek media reported.

The document was signed during the state visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Uzbekistan.

The parties agreed on mutually beneficial cooperation and strategic partnership in financing the supply of Russian high-tech products, work and services for a total amount of up to $200 million for the implementation of projects in the sphere energy efficiency, energy saving and infrastructure of the urban environment in Uzbekistan.

The parties expressed confidence that the implementation of the memorandum will contribute to the further development of economic, scientific, technical and trade cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan.

Vnesheconombank is ready to attract development banks, participants of the Interbank Association in the framework of the SCO, as well as national and international development institutions of the CIS and EAEU member countries, as sources of additional financing.

Earlier it was also reported that Vnesheconombank will provide the Tashkent administration with $100 million for the development of roads and public transport.
