Uzbekistan, US working on projects worth over $5B

The portfolio of prospective projects being worked out by Uzbekistan and the US exceeds $5 billion, Uzbek media reported referring to the negotiations of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Chairman of the American-Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce Carolyn Lamm, which took place on Oct. 22 in Tashkent.

"The portfolio of promising projects exceeds $5 billion and covers engineering, oil and gas and gas chemical industries, electric power, textile and food industries, agriculture, health care and education. Since the beginning of this year, 25 new enterprises have been created in the country with the participation of American investments, the mutual trade volume doubled," the presidential press service said.

The Uzbek side noted the important role of the American-Uzbekistan Chamber of Commerce, which includes 37 world-renowned companies, investment corporations and banks of the US, in strengthening mutually beneficial business cooperation.

During the meeting, specific prospects were discussed for further deepening practical cooperation in various sectors of the economy and promoting technological partnership.
