As many as 29 Kazakh companies participated in the 8th Central Asia Trade Forum held in Tashkent, Kapital.kz reported referring to Kazakhstan’s Chamber of Commerce.
The forum, titled "New Horizons in Trade and Investment Development," attracted Kazakh companies from the areas of mechanical engineering, cabling and wiring products, metallurgy, agro-industrial sector, consumer goods, light industry, food, construction and medical supplies.
During the negotiations with Uzbek entrepreneurs, the Kazakh companies signed contracts totaling more than $1.5 million, as well as an agreement on the supply of 20,000 tons of fish feed.
The national stand of Kazakhstan was visited by representatives of the forum’s organizers — USAID’s Regional Mission Director for Central Asia Christopher Edwards, US Consul General in Kazakhstan Eric Meyer, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. at the US Embassy in Uzbekistan Alan Meltzer, and Uzbek Deputy Prime Minister Nodir Otazhonov.
