Last Iranian planting season (started September 23, 2017), draught caused severe damage worth about $18.571 million to Iran’s Tiran and Karvan County, Mohsen Haj Abedi, director of the Tiran and Karvan Agriculture Department of Iran’s Isfahan Province, said in an interview with IRNA.
He said that more than 4,400 hectares of the county account for the sown area, adding that the drought caused damage worth about $7.857 million to agriculture.
The drought caused decrease in production at 1,800 hectares and destruction of 2,000 hectares of land, he noted.
Also, horticulture production decreased by 10,000 tons, he said, adding that this sector suffered damage worth about $10.714 million.
