The work is underway in Turkmenistan on coordinating a list of state-owned facilities which are subject to denationalization and privatization, the Turkmenistan State News Agency reported.
At the last meeting of the government, a proposal was submitted for the privatization of 27 facilities.
Through an auction, it is proposed to privatize 20 facilities related to the Ministry of Construction and Architecture, 5 facilities related to the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations and 2 facilities related to the Ministry of Energy.
In this regard, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed that the privatization process is designed to help strengthen competitiveness of the national economy, profitability of industrial production, stimulation of investment activity, as well as the dynamic development of entrepreneurship, the report said.
To this end, Turkmenistan is taking measures to improve the relevant legislative and legal framework, and the law “On Denationalization and Privatization of State Property” was adopted.
Turkmenistan holds one of the key positions in the region in the supply of natural gas. China and Iran are the importers of Turkmen gas.
