Azerbaijan to create database to ensure horticulture development(Exclusive)

The Ministry of Agriculture and the Research Institute of Fruit Growing of Azerbaijan have begun to create a a horticulture production database as part of the ongoing "Smart Garden" project to support farmers, Adviser to the Minister of Agriculture for Innovations Shabnam Mammadova told Trend.

Mammadova noted that it is a new project aiming to introduce innovations in horticulture.

"The main objective of the project is to ensure the sustainable development of horticulture, improving the quality of agricultural products using innovative technologies. In parallel, it is envisaged to develop a modern database for farmers, where all the necessary information regarding the production process will be accumulated," Mammadova said.

She noted that the new platform will also contain geolocation and meteorological information, which is also considered in the production process.

"The project aims to increase productivity in horticulture, simplify and optimize processes, as well as improve farmers' access to all mechanisms to support their activities," Mammadova said.
