The agriculture project being implemented by Azerbaijan’s women entrepreneurs will be completed until the end of 2018, Sakina Babayeva, head of Azerbaijan’s Women Entrepreneurs Association, told Trend.
She noted that this project is aimed at supporting women’s business in the field of agriculture.
“This is a test project aimed at supporting the activities of women starting their business in the field of agriculture,” said Babayeva. “We have created a special group of experts who worked with women starting their business in this segment. During various trainings and workshops, there was an active introductory work with the basics of business and advices were provided on the proper conduct of business.”
She noted the growing interest of women in this type of business.
“I think this is related to the fact that it allows women to develop their business at their place of residence, in villages, etc.,” she added. “Moreover, it is not only convenient, but also profitable.”
She noted that the association plans to expand the network of trainings and workshops in a number of Azerbaijani districts.
She added that people started to be actively engaged in agriculture in Azerbaijan after the adoption of the land reform of 1997, which ensured the transfer of land to ownership.
“The fact that in recent years women have become increasingly willing to engage in this type of business shows that women’s business has started to join difficult and significant segments of the national economy,” said Babayeva.
