Mineral reserves in Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan Province reach more than 1.1 billion tons, Shata cited Nader Mirshekar, chairman of the Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of the Sistan and Baluchestan Province, as saying.
He said licenses were issued to extract more than 720 million tons of mine materials. The exploration operations have been already launched.
More than 15 million tons of materials are extracted from 370 mines in the province per year, he said.
Around 62 percent account for building materials, 11 percent account for granite, marble, travertine, porcelain stone, 9 percent - for non-metallic minerals and 18 percent - for metals, he added.
He said that chromite and cement are major mining materials, and they are exported from the province.
