Turkey intends to increase the sale of real estate to foreign citizens by the end of 2018, the Turkish General Directorate of Land Registry and Cadastre told Trend on Nov. 29.

By the end of 2018, foreigners are expected to acquire 40,000 properties in Turkey, the directorate said.

"In January-October 2018, real estate purchase by foreigners reached 30,431 in Turkey," the directorate said.

Some 146,536 real estate properties were sold in Turkey in October 2018, which is 19.2 percent more compared to the same month in 2017, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) had earlier said in a statement.

During the period, 27,156 real estate properties in Istanbul, 13,430 properties in Ankara, and 7,419 properties in Izmir were sold, the message said.

"The remaining 98,531 real estate properties fall on the share of other cities," the TUIK message reads.
