This year, 23 projects in the field of road construction were implemented in Kazakhstan and 4,600 kilometers of roads were commissioned, Vice Minister of Investment and Development of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar said, according to the Kazakh media.
"A total of 232.4 billion tenge was allocated from the state budget for these projects, and 528 kilometers of roads will be opened for traffic by the end of the year," he said at the 15th international exhibition Kaztraffic-2018 in Astana.
The vice minister also noted that 5,900 roads of the first and second technical categories, including such a major project as the Western Europe-Western China international transit corridor, were built and repaired in 2015-2017 under the Nurly Zhol state program.
Sklyar added that 932.4 billion tenge was allocated for this activity, 80,000 employees were involved, and 95 percent of the building materials used were of domestic production.
It is worth noting that the total length of roads in Kazakhstan is 95,600 kilometers, of which 24,400 kilometers are of national significance, and 71,200 kilometers are of local significance.
