The Azerbaijan Textile Producers and Exporters Association is actively establishing cooperation with textile producers in the Baltic countries, chairperson of the association and head of the company Gilan Textile Park Mehriban Akhundova told Trend.

She said that since the beginning of the year, contacts have been established for cooperation with textile producers in Latvia.

“We have a package of proposals related to the establishment of business relations between the garment factories operating in Azerbaijan and the Baltic partners,” she noted. “We held several meetings during which we discussed a number of pressing issues, but this is quite a long process, so there is still much to discuss.”

She noted that following the upcoming talks, which will take place before the end of this year, it will become completely clear when to start implementing joint projects envisaged earlier.

She said that Latvian textile producers are interested in creating joint ventures in Azerbaijan for the further export of their products to the markets of the CIS countries.

“Azerbaijan has signed bilateral agreements on free trade with the CIS countries, and the creation of joint ventures in our country will exempt the export of finished products to these countries from customs payments,” she reminded.
