Iran exports seized smuggled goods

Head of the Department of Collection and Sale of state-owned properties of Southern Khorasan (Iran's province), said that since the beginning of the last Iranian year [started by March 2017], seven cargos of the seized smuggled goods have been exported to Central Asia, Iraq and Afghanistan, five of which are due this year.

“According to the regulations, the sale of corrupt smuggled goods has increased by 500 percent this year,” the Head of the Department of Collection and Sale of state-owned properties of Southern Khorasan, Mohammad Hossein Sheikhzadeh told reporters on Tuesday, Trend reports citing IRNA.

“According to the Supreme Leader's order, any seized smuggled goods cannot be sold in the Islamic Republic of Iran's market, but in the case of perishable products, some $380 worth of seized smuggled goods were exported,” he said.

Sheikhzadeh said that in the recent 9 months, there were 860 cases of smuggling in the province.

“Cosmetics, tobacco, automobiles, spare parts, tires and rice are the most important cases,” he said.

Sheikhzadeh announced the allocation of $295 million worth of smuggling goods to the poor and the vulnerable sectors of the province.

“These goods were transferred to the Imam Khomeini Relief Foundation,” he said.

Sheikhzadeh said that the fabric, foodstuffs and sewing machines were one of the most important goods which were allocated to vulnerable sectors of the province.

He then went on to announce that 17 tons of (seized smuggled) rice would go to Reconstruction Organization of Holy Shrines in Iraq.

Organization for Collection and Sale of State-owned Properties of Iran (OCSSPI) , founded in 2001, is affiliated to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance of Iran. Its main purpose is to focus on all matters relating to the collection, storage, management and sale of properties that by law are under the ownership, possession, custody or management of the government of Iran.
