One of the main problems in Iran's economy is that companies and banks are not privatized, Iranian Professor, Doctor of Economic Science Hussein Yahyaei said in an interview with Trend.
All big sectors in the country are the public sectors, he added.
The main sector in Iran is the oil sector, he said. Yahyaei said that automobile production, steelmaking and construction sectors are intensifying.
As a result of the intensification of these sectors during certain periods, the share of the oil sector in the economy has declined, he said.
"Iranian circles say that US ex-President Barack Obama helped Iran. In fact, more severe sanctions were imposed on Iran during Obama’s term of office," Yahyaei said.
Though Iranian circles say that sanctions did not affect Iran during ex-President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s term of office, less revenues were obtained from the sale of Iran's oil and as a result the economy was getting weaker, he said.
Therefore, discussions with the P5+1 group were launched and a Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action was signed, Yahyaei said.
