Trend:

Iran has predicted the non-oil exports to rise 1.5 times more than oil exports in the next Iranian year's (starts March 21, 2019) budget plan.

"The next year budget plan expects the increase of non-oil exports to 1.5 times more than oil exports," Iran parliament budget commission's member, representative from the Hamadan province, Hamidreza Haji Babaei said, Trend reports via IRNA.

"The volume of non-oil exports of the current year were in balance with oil exports, and we hope that next year the non-oil exports would rise," he said.

"Despite the US efforts, Iran exported 2.5 million bpd of oil during the first six months of the year (started March 21, 2018). In case if the export volume drop to 1.5 million bpd, non-oil exports should increase instead," Babaei believes.

He went on to add that Iran should increase the volume of non-oil exports next year, while supporting exports should one of country's main policy vectors.

Babaei said a total of $1.5 billion has been allocated to development of exports from the National Development Fund of Iran.

"Iran has high capacity for transactions with neighbors. Hamadan province can play a role in this, the province's non-oil exports were worth $850 million, and there is capacity to increase it to $1.5 billion," said the MP.

Among the obstacles for expansion of non-oil exports, Babaei noted weak infrastructure, goods smuggling, bad bank management, administrative barriers.
