For the 11 months of 2018, iron ore was produced in Kazakhstan for 265.4 billion tenge, which is 18.4 percent more than a year earlier, Trend reports citing Energyprom.kz.
More than 87 percent of the production volume accounted for Kostanay region: 231.3 billion tenge, an increase of 16.8 percent year-on-year. Karaganda region ranked second, accounting for 10.5 percent with 27.7 billion tenge, an increase of 20.3 percent. Akmola region was third, accounting for 1.2 percent with 3.2 billion tenge, growth of 28 percent year-on-year.
In real terms, over the 11 months of this year, iron ore production increased by 7.8 percent year-on-year, and production of iron ore concentrates grew by 8.7 percent.
Production of non-agglomerated iron ores decreased by 4.1 percent, and that of iron ore agglomerates by 2.3 percent.
In money terms, the volume of ferrous metallurgy production for the 11 months of this year increased by 16.5 percent year-on-year to 1.6 trillion tenge. Production is concentrated in the Karaganda (42.6 percent), Pavlodar (29.1 percent) and Aktobe (19.4 percent) regions.
Exports of iron ore and concentrates decreased by 0.5 percent year-on-year in real terms and by 9.3 percent in money in the first 10 months of 2018.
